Bring your little one and listen to a cozy story when Elisa Kleven, author and/or illustrator of over 30 books for children, visits the Berkeley Public Library’s Central Children’s Library, on the 4th floor of the Central Library, 2090 Kittredge Street, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Berkeley Public Library, this free program will feature Elisa reading her newest picture book, Cozy Light, Cozy Night, and share original art work and sketches. Children ages 3-7 and their families are welcome. Learn about how a picture book is created, from idea to finished product.
Elisa will also conduct an interactive drawing and story-making session which aims to bring out the inner artist and author in everyone! Eliza Kleven has received several awards and honors for her work in Children’s Literature.
Her intricate and colorful illustrations have graced many books, including Abuela by Arthur Dorros, The Weaver by Thacher Hurd, and De Colores and other Latin American Folk Songs for Children, selected and translated by Jose-Luis Orozco. She has also authored and illustrated picture books such as The Paper Princess, Sun Bread, and Glasswing: A Butterfly’s Tale.
The Central Library is open Monday, noon-8 p.m., Tuesday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. For questions and accessibility information, call 510-981-6195, TTY 510-548-1240, http://www.berkeleypubliclibrary.org.
