Thai Cultural Council Dancers Perform @Claremont



Berkeley, California.  May 2, 2016 –May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The Berkeley Public Library invites you to a special dance performance by the master and student artists of the Thai Cultural Council. On Saturday, May 21, at 3:00pm the artists of the Thai Cultural Council (TCC) will share present traditional and folk Thai dances with the musical accompaniment of TCC’s classical band at the Claremont Branch Library. This program is part of the Berkeley Public Library’s celebration and TCC's initiative to support positive cultural exchange between audiences in the United States. The Thai Cultural Council (TCC) of Berkeley’s mission is to instill pride in Thai culture among Thai-American youth, to build self-confidence, camaraderie and leadership skills through performance and to introduce Thai performing arts and music to audiences in California. TCC is located at Wat Mongkolratanaram Thai Buddhist Temple in South Berkeley. It offers music and dance lessons on weekends and more intensive classes during summer sessions. TCC instructors are volunteers who are either permanently settled in the Bay Area or visiting year-long teaching fellows from the Rajabhat Institute at Ban Somdej Chao Phraya in Bangkok.
