We'll be giving away comics from 1:00pm-4:00pm while supplies last, but at 3:00pm we'll have a special visit from a Jedi Knight. He'll do magic for the first half hour and from 3:30-4:00pm, he'll be available for photos with kids. Come for our Free Comic Book giveaway and may the force be with you!

For this special Words and Jazz Month edition of Teens MAKE SOME THING at Claremont, we'll be creating black out poetry using discarded books, sharpies, and our creative spirits.
4th floor Story Room
In anticipation of the 34th Annual Quilt Show (May 1 - June 7), join the Textile Mavens and learn basic quilting techniques. Catherine Durand and Fern Royce will guide participants in creating a beautiful quilted bookmark. All participants are invited to submit their work for display in the upcoming Quilt Show. Supplies provided. Space is limited: call 510-981-6236 to sign up for one of four half hour slots. The last session begins at 6:30 p.m. For ages 6 and up.

The Cypress String Quartet presents a preview of their upcoming Call and Response program, "Into the Night". Come hear sections of Beethoven's Razumovsky String Quartet, op. 59, no. 2, Bartok's 4th String Quartet, and the world premiere of contemporary composer Philippe Hersant's 5th String Quartet, commissioned by the Cypress.
Celebrate the spirit of jazz with an improvizational synth jam at Claremont! We'll be using a variety of electronic instruments, from iPads to banana pianos built with MaKey MaKey invention kits and hand constructed KORG synthesizers created using Littlebits circuitry kits! Our creations will be uploaded to Soundcloud for sharing with friends and family. Participants are encouraged to bring instruments from home as well.
