In this special V-Day edition of our weekly "Make Some Thing!" club, we'll be making some thing Valentine's Day related! Bring your creativity and your desire to get hands-on!

Just for fun
Close out a month of romance with a screening of a film that will
eat warm your heart, Warm Bodies.
Light refreshment will be provided. No. Not brains.
Hate Valentine’s Day? Tired of all the champagne and candy hearts? Couldn’t get a reservation at that overcrowded restaurant? Completely down on love?
Come to North Branch and celebrate the total absence of romance! Enjoy light refreshments, games, completely non-romantic music, and nobody wearing anything red or pink.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Cupid invites bookloving singles in their 20s and 30s to gather in the meeting room for snacks and chance encounters.
Bring a book you loved, hated, or just recently read and be prepared to chat about it with a (charming? lovely?) stranger – but only for a few minutes.
Space is limited!
Call the library (510-981-6520) or come in to sign up and learn more about this literary matchmaking event.
Teens! Give that special someone a card they will remember forever!
No special someone? Don't let that stop you from designing a fantastic piece of art. Express yourself!
We provide the materials. You provide the creative energy. A local artist will be on hand to provide tips and inspiration.
We'll meet in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room. No reservation necessary. Just show up. Bring a few friends. All middle and high school age teens are welcome.
Paws to Read invites children in grades K - 5 to come read to a friendly dog. Dogs provided by TherapyPets. There are two reading opportunities: 3:30 or 4:00. Call in advance, starting January 16, or drop in. Bring a book or choose one here.
A fun event for every age. February is the month of love and this is a great way to help to spread love! Make a romantic card for someone you love; show a friend or family member that you are thinking of them or make a Valentine's Day card that will be sent to veterans at the local VA Hospital as an act of kindness and gratitude for their sacrifices.
Kids ages 7-10 come and make colorful Friendship Pins to wear and trade!
4th floor, Central Children's Room
Award-winning storyteller Kirk Waller comes to the South Branch to share stories that fuse spoken word, rhythm, music and movement! Don't miss this master storyteller at work!
