Faye Carol: Women's History Jazz @THP South

Come see Faye Carol, a Bay Area jazz singer legend who has been performing since the 1960's, at the Tarea Hall Pittman South branch. Ms. Carol will pay tribute to some of the great woman jazz singers of all time in celebration of Women's History Month. The San Francisco Examiner once wrote that "No singer in the Bay area comes close to Carol's sheer intensity; she doesn't just sell a song... she sells her soul for that song." This event is free.

"A Rose for Emily" @THP South CMR

Why should kids have all the fun?  Adults deserve storytimes, too. Join us for William Faulkner's "A  Rose for Emily", the darkly humorous tale of a Southern spinster whose secrets emerge posthumously, through the voices of her hometown neighbors.  With multiple readers, two kinds of puppets, sets and sound effects, it's Faulkner as you've never experienced him before.   After the reading, stay for a discussion of the story, genre and author. Intended for teens and older.
