Join the Berkeley Public Library and Bay Area Children's Theatre for Party at the Park! With a live performance by the cast of Elephant & Piggie's We Are in a Play!

Thursday, September 29th, 4-5PM

San Pablo Park: 2800 Park St. Berkeley, CA 94702, near the Park and Oregon entrance (see map below - this is where we plan to be)

Benvenue Beats Mini Music Festival @Claremont

Please join us at the Claremont Branch for three hours of live music and dance to cap off our celebration of Latin/Hispanic American Heritage Month! We'll be closing down the street for an open-air event featuring some of the Bay Area's finest performers including children's singer-songwriter Mariela Herrera, the Afro-Peruvian dance company Cunamacué, and Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco. All ages are welcome. See you there!

Decoding Chinese Opera Part Two : Appreciating Beauty

Chinese Opera

Classical Chinese drama, or opera, can be challenging for the uninitiated. This standalone companion to Part 1 looks at what makes Chinese theater mei (beautiful). We’ll see how the characteristic charms of opera relate to Disney animation, drag, and Las Vegas-style stage magic. We’ll conclude by watching comic and musical excerpts from the masterpiece Peony Pavilion.

Asheba is a musical storyteller specializing in Calypso, the musical and folkloric oral tradition of Trinidad, Asheba's homeland. Hope and happiness are the focus of his songs which range from original children's music to classic children's tunes with a Caribbean twist!
