Lego Build-Off @THPSouth

This year's summer reading theme is Reading By Design and the Teen Leadership group challenges all of our patrons to a Lego design competition! All ages are invited to this event where you will use the library's Lego blocks to design and build a piece on a given theme. Participants will have 45 minutes to create followed by judging. Prizes will be awarded in age categories.

All ages are welcome at this event, though patrons 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Eclipse 2017: Astronomer Andrew Fraknoi Presents @Central

In this illustrated, nontechnical talk, astronomer Andrew Fraknoi, will describe how eclipses work, why they are one of nature’s most spectacular sights, what scientists learn during eclipses, exactly when and where the eclipse of 2017 will be visible, and how to observe the eclipse and the Sun safely. Saturday, August 5, 2017, Community Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, 2 pm to 4 pm.
