First, hear local author Sumiko Saulson read an excerpt from hir novella Ashes and Coffee, a distinctly Bay Area, modern take on Poe's The Masque of the Red Death, and participate in a live Q&A with Sumiko. Then hear the original Poe story as read by Basil Rathbone. (Link+ has a number of Saulson's works, and BPL is working on adding Ashes and Coffee and more to our collection.)
This is the final installment of Scary Stories, Past and Present, a series of virtual storytimes for adults where we pair modern and classic horror stories. Each new story is read by its author, followed by a short Q&A where you ask the questions. The golden oldies are all from BPL's very own vinyl record collection, found on the 5th Floor at Central (reopening in November!). Happy Halloween!
