Free Comic Book Day! @Central

The first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day, and the Berkeley Public Library is in the mood to celebrate!

We will be giving away age appropriate comic books all day long in the Children's Room.

In the 3rd floor meeting room, 1pm-4-pm, we'll have a supply of comics of interest to teens. So come and grab your free comics. We'll be streaming anime selections form Crunchyroll on the big screen. Take a look at the calendar to learn more about events happening at the branches!

First Friday: Photo, Film and Audio Show

Friday, April 4, 6-8pm @ North Branch. Photo, Film and Audio students from The Art Institute of California – San Francisco present new work characterized by inspired creativity and technical polish. All genres of work will be shown including fashion and journalistic photos, documentary and fiction films, and music that spans electronica to symphonic.

Illustrator Visit with M. Sarah Klise @North

In honor of Youth Art Month, meet the illustrator and one half of the sisterly dynamic duo who created such books as Regarding the Fountain: a Tale, in Letters, of Liars and Leaks, Stand Straight, Ella Kate: The True Story of a Real Giant, and the 43 Old Cemetery Road series. She'll talk about how she works with her sister to create a book, and guide you to make some art as well! Ages 5 and up.

Youth Art Month: Explore with Yarn and Craft Sticks @Central

Explore the possibilities of art with yarn, craft sticks and other materials. Limited instruction will be given on making God's Eyes (Ojo de Dios) - a traditional yarn craft from the Huichol Indians of the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico, and the Aymara Indians of Bolivia. Of course you can use the yarn to make your own creation! It's your thing, do what you want to do! Ages 5 and up.
