"A Tree, A Rock, A Cloud" @West

Community Meeting Room

Adult Story Time presents Carson McCullers' short story, "A Tree, A Rock, A Cloud".  An earnest young boy and a tired traveler engage in a poignant dialogue about the science of love.  We'll perform every word of McCullers' text.  After the performance, stay for refreshments and a discussion of the story, genre and author.

Want to read the story before the performance?  You'll find the text here.

Saturday Jazz w/ The Zan Stewart Band @North

Come enjoy some live jazz with the Zan Stewart Band!  They will dig into Zan's originals (for instance, the samba "Daddy's Blue Song," and the minor blues "Zansky"), jazz classics (Dexter Gordon's swinger, "Cheesecake" and Charlie Parker's ace blues, "Laird Baird" are two), and timeless standards (including Irving Berlin's "How Deep is the Ocean" and Herb Nacio Brown's "You Stepped Out of a Dream") with gusto. These performances are designed for the enjoyment of both jazz novices and lifelong devotees.
