Magical Moonshine Theatre: Coyote Sings @ West

Magical Moonshine Theatre is an internationally acclaimed puppet company that has been bringing smiles and tales to kids for over 30 years. In this Native American story, Coyote tries desperately to learn a song. This combined with his bungling attempts to hunt for food and impress all his neighbors make for hilarious slapstick. Ages 4-8.

Learn easy cat's-cradle-style string figures and string magic tricks.  Make a boat, a house, a fish spear and more with just a loop of string.  String figures are found in native cultures all over the world and make a perfect family activity.  They are a timeless form of creative play that can be done anytime and anywhere - with just a loop of string.

JazzArt: Music, Stories, and Art @ Central CCR

Live jazz by violinist India Cooke and drummer Don Robinson helps make stories come to life, while you create art! Artist and educator Lisa DiPrima is there to guide you with your art, and reading stories from Hana Hashimoto, Sixth Violin by Chieri Uegaki, and Beautiful Blackbird by Ashley Bryan.

To celebrate the 10th Annual Staff Art Show, we highlight staff whose art doesn't fit in a frame or display case.  Experience the work of musicians, actors, playwrights, poets and puppeteers.  This program follows the Staff Art Show reception (1-2 pm), where you can meet the people who made the visual art on display throughout the month of October.

Storytime for Adults @Central

4th floor Story Room

Storytime for Adults debuts with William Faulkner's "A  Rose for Emily".  Join us for readers theater, as multiple readers present the darkly humorous story of a Southern spinster whose secrets emerge posthumously, though the voices of her hometown neighbors. With two kinds of puppets, sets, and sound effects, it's Faulkner as you've never experienced him before. After the reading, stay for a discussion of the story, genre and author. Intended for teens and older.
