Join us for a workshop where we will create colorful planners using Canva. In this class you will sign up for a free Canva account, learn how to browse pre-made templates, and change them to meet your own scheduling needs and design preferences. We will also demonstrate how to build a planner from scratch. Monthly and weekly planner formats will be discussed along with other ideas to incorporate into your planner. Once created, librarians will be available to print and laminate your created calendar to take home with you.

Come to the third-floor central library public Electornic Classroom and use our computers or bring your own device (no appointment needed). Library staff will be available to answer computer questions, and provide personal computer guidance. Beginner computer users are welcome.  Staff will be on hand to help with the following:

Join Bay Rise and Berkeley Public Library for introductory coding sessions, building games with Scratch!

All of these games are friendly introductions to universal coding concepts through the easy and engaging medium of Scratch, block-based coding language. Kids will have fun designing their own characters and game elements while learning how to program, and eventually make their own games.

Members from the UC Berkeley Kavli Center for Ethics, Science, and the Public will be there to facilitate discussion of these new technologies and governance surrounding them. What are your hopes, what are your fears, and what would you want to create if you were an AI computer scientist? All levels of computer users are welcome.
