Brilliant Birds and Their Brains

- (ended)

Drs. Diana Liao and Melissa Johnston will discuss avian intelligence, arguing birds are much smarter than they are given credit for. Their talk will cover research demonstrating birds' remarkable skills including tool use, orthographic processing, and memory, and will conclude with an examination of the putative neurobiological underpinnings of bird intellect. Diana and Melissa are behavioral neuroscientists at the University of Tübingen researching the cognitive abilities of crows.
