Berkeley Public Library and Left Margin LIT present a conversation with author Hannah Michell, discussing her new novel Excavations, coming out July 11, 2023 from Penguin Random House. Left Margin LIT Co-founder David Roderick will join Hannah for the discussion.  Copies of Excavations will be available for purchase from Pegasus Books at the event.

Excavations tells the story of "a former journalist turned stay-at-home mother ventures into the dark underbelly of Seoul, South Korea, to find her missing husband and protect her children in this gripping, page-turning exploration of the lengths one woman will go to unveil hard truths."

Hannah Michell is a writer and lecturer based in Berkeley and is the author of The Defections (Quercus, 2014). Her short stories and essays have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Mslexia and the Asian Review of Books. Hannah teaches at UC Berkeley in the Asian American Studies program.

Left Margin LIT is a creative writing center in Berkeley offering classes, camaraderie, and mentorship to East Bay writers of all backgrounds and experience levels. We aim to promote storytelling and poetry as vital elements of a healthy community: enriching dialogue, building community, and supporting a culture of creativity.
