AARP Tax Help

April 8, 2024 Update: All available tax appointments have all been claimed, no new appointments are available!

Volunteers from AARP’s Free Tax Preparation Service are available to help you by appointment only at the Central Library on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch on Mondays and Wednesdays starting February 5th.

This appointment uses a “Same Day Drop Off” service model.  After you drop off all the required documents, you will be asked to wait elsewhere in the library for about an hour. If the preparer has any question or when your return is ready they will call/text you on your cell phone.

Please read these 3 questions to determine if AARP Tax Aide can help you:
• Do you plan to file Married Filing Separately and lived together for any part of 2023?
• Do you have rental INCOME?
• Did you reside outside of California any time during 2023?

If you answered yes to any of them AARP Tax Aide will not be able to help you with your taxes.  Contact TaxAide.AARP.org or call 888-227-7669.  They may be able to suggest other options.

If you answered no to all 3 questions you can go on to make an appointment.  Please be sure to give us a current cell phone number and email address as a tax aide volunteer will contact you before your appointment.  This contact is an essential part of the tax preparation process, so we can make sure you bring all the appropriate forms with you and answer any questions you have.  Providing your email address will allow us to send a pdf of the Intake Booklet you need to complete and print prior to your appointment.  No email address and printer? Please pick up a packet at the Library before your appointment.  In order to maximize the number of returns that we prepare we require that your Intake Booklet be completed before your appointment.
