kris urbanrezlife longoria was born and raised in san francisco california. she is an enrolled citizen of the caddo nation. she is a mother, writer, artist, storyteller. she spent time on alcatraz as a child with her family during the occupation. she has continued her work on alcatraz for the last 2 decades and works on her art and writing experience, and history from urbanrezlife

From UrbanRezLife: "at this exhibit you will find my work that was on alcatraz from november 2019 till january of 2025. these canvases have been viewed by over 5 million visitors on alcatraz. i am so honored to share this art work of my reflections as a child during the occupation of alcatraz with the berkeley central library as their first stop."

These canvases are on display on the 5th floor of the Central Library.

From UrbanRezLife: "each prayer piece brings something different to my being… throughout my exhibit you will 3 new prayer pieces I have made for this show. prayers and medicine are a huge part of my life. my healing for the past 5 years. all the tobacco and sage used in these pieces were grown by my daughter, son in law and I. beautiful medicine grown in my concrete jungle"

Prayer pieces are on display on the 5th floor, in the 2nd floor historic lobby, and in the Kittredge St. window of the Central Library.
