The Honorable Judge John True (Alameda County Superior Court, Ret.) will be giving this informative and timely lecture on the independence of the Judiciary branch, and its role in regards to the United States Constitution and the checks and balances of the legislative and executive branches.

The talk will cover  the interaction between article II and article III of the Constitution with emphasis on the comparative powers of the presidency and the Supreme Court. Judge True will cover the appointment power, the Senate's role under the "advise and consent" clause, the finality of judicial orders, impeachment and, if  there is time left at the end, the pardon power and its exercise.

Twenty minutes will be given at the end for a Q&A session.
