Book Into Film: Housekeeping @Central CMR

November 12, 2017 - 1:30pm-4:00pm (ended)

3rd floor Community Meeting Room

Book Into Film is a library series meeting every other month, where you are invited to read the book on your own, watch the film with others at the library, and stay after the screening for a discussion of both book and film.  Our first book/film combination is Marilynne Robinson's novel Housekeeping (1980), which became a 1987 film of the same title starring Christine Lahti. Lahti plays an eccentric woman who takes in her two orphaned nieces.  Film critic Roger Ebert called it  "one of the strangest and best films of the year."  Check out one of the library's copies of the book, available in print, audiobook or ebook. Our next book/film combination will be Sunday, January 28, 2018: The Great Gatsby, novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, film directed by Baz Luhrmann.
