December 11, 2016 - 2:00pm-4:45pm (ended)

3rd floor Community Meeting Room

2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.  The library has celebrated Shakespeare this year with live theater and the BBC series "Playing Shakespeare".  As the year draws to a close, we'll watch four unusual film productions in our mini film festival, "Shakespeare Outside the Box"

Today brings The Tragedy of Hamlet, (2002), directed by Peter Brook, with an international, multiethnic cast. Stay for a brief discussion after the film.

Future films:

Saturday, December 17: Much Ado About Nothing, (2012) directed by Joss Whedon, in black and white, with Nathan Fillion as Dogberry.

Sunday, December 18: King Lear, (1971) directed by Peter Brook with Paul Scofield as Lear, filmed in Denmark.
