Description: 
Oakland branch of the IRS-established offices for personal tax help when individuals believe their tax issues cannot be handled online or by phone.
Services: 
Oakland IRS office provides federal tax forms, information, and walk-in VITA tax preparation assistance with payment arrangements (check, money order, or exact payment cash payments accepted). Also provides alien clearances (sailing permits). Volunteer training program (510-637-2473), available October-December, requires 16-40 hours of training.
Publications: 
Current basic federal tax forms are available at all Berkeley Public Libraries, early in the year through April. Reproducible forms, for the current year and past years, are available at the Central Library Reference Desk.
Eligible: 
To receive tax assistance must qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit or have income of $50,000 or less, and possess social security card for themselves and dependents, income documentation, and valid photo ID.
Languages: 
Multilingual assistance (over 150 languages translated) available.
