Love books? Want to hang out with other teens who love books? Come to the North Branch's teen book club! Our first book is We Are Not Free by Traci Chee. We will make crafts, eat snacks, and talk about books. Free copies of the book available while supplies last. Books will be distributed at our first meeting in September, and then we will discuss it during our meeting in October. Please register by emailing rbrown@berkeleyca.gov or visiting the front desk. Middle and high schoolers welcome.
We Are Not Free is a historical fiction book. Growing up together in the community of Japantown, San Francisco, fourteen second-generation Japanese American teens find their bond tested by widespread discrimination and the mass incarcerations of people of Japanese ancestry during World War II.
