Born and raised in the heart of the Kenyan savanna, Maasai Chief Salaton Ole Ntutu, brings Africa to life with his stories of a child becoming a warrior while living amongst the wild animals he now passionately works to protect.

Learn how he survived with his knowledge of animal behavior and sounds, and how he developed a desire to preserve his Maasai lands and culture.

Love in the Stacks: Literary Speed Dating @ North

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Cupid invites bookloving singles in their 20s and 30s to gather in the meeting room for snacks and chance encounters.

Bring a book you loved, hated, or just recently read and be prepared to chat about it with a (charming? lovely?) stranger – but only for a few minutes.

Valentine's Day Cards for Teens @Central

Teens! Give that special someone a card they will remember forever!

No special someone? Don't let that stop you from designing a fantastic piece of art. Express yourself!

We provide the materials. You provide the creative energy. A local artist will be on hand to provide tips and inspiration. 

We'll meet in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room. No reservation necessary. Just show up. Bring a few friends. All middle and high school age teens are welcome.

Crepe Paper Flowers for Teens @Central

Make beautiful paper flowers to support the Berkeley Public Library! Castle in the Air teachers Lynn Dolan and Karima Cammell welcome teenage students to learn the art of crafting realistic paper flowers using European crepe paper, complete with a surprise literary twist. The flowers you make can be taken home or added to the centerpieces that Castle in the Air will donate to the Berkeley Public Library Foundation's 13th annual Authors Dinner fundraiser.
