"It Can't Happen Here" @Central CMR

Join readers across the nation in bringing Sinclair Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here" to the Berkeley Public Library. Lewis' darkly satirical play, written in 1936 for the National Theater Project, imagines the rise of fascism in America, race riots, huge income gaps between rich and poor, the stigmatizing of immigrants, global terror and a right-wing extremist running for President.

Berkeley Stories feat. Jaco Roesch @North

Berkeley Stories is a monthly series featuring the extraordinary ordinary people all around us.  The people that make Berkeley the unique place it is, and whose hands have touched our lives in unseen ways.

This Month, meet Jaco Roesch. By bicycle the world is his Route 66—to China and beyond.  Berkeley is his home. (Or is it Jupiter?)

BHS. UCLA. Music. Couch-surfer. Wild camper. Laborer. Teacher. Spain. Morocco. Turkey. Uzbekistan. China.  Tibetan Plateau. Thailand. New Guinea. But always back to Berkeley.

Let’s hear his story.
