Can you use free legal advice? The Lawyers in the Library (LiL) program at the Central Library is scheduled to take place the 2nd Tuesday of every month, but please call on the event date to confirm at 510-981-6148. Sign up at the 2nd floor Reference Desk, in person only, beginning at 5:00 pm. Names will be drawn by lottery at 6:00 pm No telephone sign-ups. The lawyer consults from 6:00 pm tp 7:30 pm, and sees up to 7 people for about 10-15 minutes each.
The lawyer, answers legal questions about housing, employment, immigration, and other concerns and will let you know what steps you need to take. The attorney cannot represent you in court, but will suggest other options and resources for you.
LiL is a countywide service coordinated by the Alameda County Law Library and staffed by volunteer attorneys.
