Growing Edible and Medicinal Plants @THP South

Alexis Mastromichalis of Gold Finch Designs will be leading a class on Edible Plants + Medicine. This is the perfect time of the year to begin your fall vegetable garden and consider including more medicinal + culinary herbs.
There will be hands-on demonstrations discussing soil preparation, companion planting, seed starting and more!

The class will also learn how to prepare a healthy salad and salad dressing with medicinal herbs.

Alexis Mastromichalis is the owner of Gold Finch Designs, a full-service garden care business located in the East Bay. She brings over 20 years experience as a designer, gardener, stone builder and educator. Her experiences range from farming full-time on flower + vegetable farms, managing educational community gardens and farmers market programs. She has a passion for flowers, pollinators and colors and loves to help spread that joy through hosting pop-up events, garden coaching and teaching. Her teaching has taken her to Chile, Portugal, Argentina, Greece and Spain. She is proud to have worked with The Edible Schoolyard Project, SEEDS, and Rock + Rose Landscapes.

Alexis holds a BA in International Affairs + Dance from George Washington University a Certificate in Sustainable Agriculture from Central Carolina Community College. She is a huge advocate of the Tarea  Hall Pittman + Berkeley Tool Library and excited to continue to teach on-going garden classes.
