Drinking Waters @North

a stream in the woods
May 12, 2018 - 4:00pm-5:00pm (ended)

With the idea that artworks help us understand complicated systems by turning them into objects of contemplation and beauty, Berkeley artist Todd Gilens created a group of silkscreen prints based on the water supply of Bay Area cities. The work is part of Gilens’ multi-year project about streams, ecology and water infrastructure and was funded by the Berkeley Arts Commission.

Join him for an overview of his work in the mountains, a description of the images and printmaking process, and a discussion of how art may help us live in a complex world.
