at Actual Cafe

6334 San Pablo Ave., Oakland

Come represent Berkeley Public Library in a diorama-making competition! The contest is open to all adult users of both Berkeley and Oakland Public Libraries.

TO ENTER: Make a diorama based on a favorite book. Bring your completed diorama to Actual Café to be judged by our panel of esteemed diorama experts: Justin Carder (owner of E.M. Wolfman General Interest Small Bookstore), Alicia Goode (Taxidermist & Exhibit Preparator at Oakland Museum of California), and Sarah Seiter (Associate Curator of Natural Sciences at Oakland Museum of California ).

A diorama is a scene inside of a box. You can make yours any way you like about any book you want!

Shoebox-sized dioramas are recommended for this competition. Need a shoebox? We have some extras at the Central Library - ask at the 5th floor Art & Music desk.

Will your diorama be voted most frightening? Most accurate? Most glittery? There's only one way to find out!
