3rd floor Community Meeting Room
Book Into Film is a library series meeting approximately every other month, where you are invited to read the book on your own, watch the film with others at the library, and stay after the screening for a discussion of both book and film.
This month's book/film combination is The Picture of Dorian Gray. In the 1945 film version of Oscar Wilde’s 1890 novel, Hurd Hatfield plays the young man who sells his soul for everlasting beauty. Under the corrupting influence of the aristocrat played by George Sanders, Dorian Gray’s changing character is reflected in a hidden portrait. After the movie, let’s talk about whether it does justice to Wilde’s elegant horror story.
Check out one of the library's copies of the book to read before the film viewing.
