Description: 
Works to preserve and guarantee the protections of the constitution's Bill of Rights to all segments of the population.
Services: 
Litigates those cases raising broad, new areas of constitutional law, and also works on the passage of equitable new legislation. Legal assistance line serves as a clearing house for callers and provides clarifications. The civil liberties counselors, who staff the assistance line at the hours/days noted above, will discuss a caller's problem and then either refer caller to agencies that work with the kind of issues presented, or discuss the issue with an ACLU attorney and report that attorney's advice back to the caller. Written letters are also accepted as intakes. No walk-in service. No criminal or family law cases. Paid internships and fellowships available. Volunteer opportunities.
