How To Say Goodbye In Robot
By Natalie Standford
Type of book: fiction
Rating: 4 stars

How To Say Goodbye In Robot by Natalie Standford is very much like its title – unique, different, and makes one curious to find out more. It handles very interesting topics like happiness, farewells, family, and friendship in a careful yet unordinary way. It’s so sweet in some ways, sad in another and overall kind of weird. It’s nothing like the usual fiction novel about a new girl in a new town. It’s funny and touching. I say it’s pretty easy to read, it has 276 pages. I don’t recommend it to middle schoolers, because it also handles the topic of death, but I do recommend it to high school students.

After
By Francine Prose
Type of book: Adventure, Fiction, Mystery
Rating: 5 stars

After is a chilling, terrifying, and powerful story of what happens to normality after tragedy strikes- when the tragedy isn’t your own. Tom is a sophomore at Central High, one of the “smart jocks” a normal guy at a normal school. And during math class, that normalcy shatters. A school the next town over is shot up by angry students, and in the wake of this tragedy, school at Central begins to change. Metal detectors, no gum, and no red. At first the students make their compromises, but when those that do not comply begin to vanish, Tom realizes that nothing good can come of sacrificing freedom for safety. Beautifully written, After is the kind of book that leaves you thinking hours after the last page is turned.

Little Miss Red
By Robin Palmer
Type of book: Fiction, Humor, Romance
Rating: 5 Stars

Someone would want to read this book because it’s funny and definitely relatable. The narrator goes through some hilarious relationship drama after wishing her life to be a little more dramatic. Throughout the story the narrator, Sophie, learns that it’s ok if you aren’t always daring and stick to yourself, but it’s also ok to try something new. I really liked the dialogue between the characters. It was very entertaining. I would really like a sequel to this novel.

Deception
By Lee Nichols
Type of book: General Fiction, Romance, Science Fiction
Rating: 4 Stars

When her parents disappear, Emma does what every teenager does, she throws a party. It’s a blast until the police come, and she is sent to Boston to live with her brother’s roommate. She makes quick friends with the popular people, but she starts seeing ghosts. This book is a little different from all the books I’ve read, but it was very interesting even to the end. I look forward to reading the next book.
