Architectural Design Team Selection
February 2009
On November 4, 2008, Berkeley voters approved Measure FF, a Library Bond measure (not to exceed $26M) to renovate, expand and make seismic and access improvements at the four branch libraries and the Tool Lending Library, including the restoration and refurbishment of historic features.
In January 2009, the City began soliciting proposals from qualified firms and individuals to provide architectural design services related to the renovation, expansion, and construction of the North and South Branches of the Berkeley Public Library.
You can find detailed information about these two Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including project scope and the vendor selection process, on the City of Berkeley website at www.ci.berkeley.ca.us.
The RFPs represent the next steps in the Berkeley Public Library Branch Libraries Facilities Master Plan. You can find this report and information about Measure FF on the Library's website at www.berkeleypubliclibrary.org in the "About the Library" section, under "Planning."
Design team proposals are due by Thursday, February 12, 2009. The Board of Library Trustees will interview the finalists at a public meeting, date TBD.
The Berkeley Public Library looks forward to engaging the entire Berkeley community in the development of plans for their neighborhood branch libraries.
