Architectural Design Teams for the North Branch and South Branch / Tool Lending Libraries

April 2009

Berkeley Public Library is pleased to announce the selection of architectural design teams for the North Branch and South Branch / Tool Lending Libraries:

Architectural Resources Group

in association with

Tom Eliot Fisch

North Branch Library

Field Paoli

South Branch and Tool Lending Library

These firms bring extensive experiences working on civic projects, especially public libraries and they are excited and thrilled to be working in Berkeley renovating and expanding the branch libraries.

Architectural Resources Group experiences include the renovation of the San Francisco Public Library’s Golden Gate Valley Branch and the historic Angel Island Immigration Station; Field Paoli has designed many public libraries and community buildings, including San Jose Public Library’s Almaden Library & Community Center.

Contract approvals by the Board of Library Trustees and Berkeley City Council will take place in the next few months, and later this summer the Berkeley Public Library will be engaging the Berkeley community in the development of plans to expand and renovate their neighborhood branch libraries to make them seismically safe and ADA-accessible.
